At NTT Global Data Centers, we operate at the intersection of technology ambition and infrastructure reality. Our responsibility is to provide the resilient capacity our clients need while continuously improving how efficiently and responsibly we use resources.
Sustainability isn't a checkbox — it's built into how we design, build, and run our data centers. As AI changes what digital infrastructure needs to be, we're working hand-in-hand with clients, suppliers, utilities and communities to grow responsibly for the long haul.
Our 2026 Sustainability Report shares our progress, goals, sustainability strategy and priorities, while highlighting some real-world sustainable practices we’re enacting at some of our facilities worldwide.
NTT DATA’s net-zero goals
As part of NTT DATA, we support its SBTi-approved Net-Zero Vision 2040 — cutting Scope 1 and 2 emissions over 90% by 2030, and net-zero across Scopes 1–3 by 2040.
Scope 1: Direct emissions — fuel and refrigerants
We aim to reduce generator testing, evaluate lower-carbon fuels, minimize refrigerant leakages, transition to lower-GWP refrigerants where feasible, and progressively electrify our vehicle fleet.
Scope 2: Indirect emissions — purchased energy (non-IT load) and operational energy use
We aim to increase renewable energy procurement via PPAs and EACs, generate onsite renewables where feasible, improve PUE with AI-driven cooling, and deploy BESS for grid resilience.
Scope 3: Value chain emissions — supply chain; energy used by clients (IT load)
Our goals are to innovate data center design, engage suppliers in decarbonization, buy lower-carbon materials, influence clients on renewables, and cut IT energy consumption.

A holistic framework for decarbonization
NTT GDC has defined a holistic framework for decarbonization to reduce emissions and improve our environmental footprint.
Consume less
Consume less focuses on improving the efficiency of our operations. This includes reducing the use of energy, water and other resources through operational optimization, better monitoring, improved controls and targeted efficiency measures.
Do better
Do better means reducing the carbon intensity of our resources — using more renewable and low-carbon energy, assessing lower-carbon fuels and materials, improving waste management and partnering with clients and suppliers on lower-carbon solutions.
Do different
Do different focuses on areas where optimization and substitution alone may not be sufficient and includes longer-term innovations such as new data center design approaches, excess heat recovery, advanced cooling technologies, and alternative backup solutions.
