Realizing a sustainable future
Our goal is to use technology for good to help create a more affluent and harmonious society. We recognize the importance of embedding sustainability across our company, and we are making significant investments to address sustainability challenges for ourselves and our clients. It’s why we rank in the top 1% of IT service providers featured in the S&P Global Sustainability Rating, 2024 and, for the second consecutive year, have been selected as a CDP Climate Change “A List” company.
As we launch our Global Sustainability Report, Abhijit Dubey, President and CEO, and David Costa, Chief Sustainability Officer, share the progress made one year after introducing our global sustainability strategy. They reflect on how sustainability is embedded in our business, creating value and a competitive advantage, driving efficiency, inspiring innovation and accelerating growth. From renewable energy and nature-positive initiatives to AI-driven innovation, we are turning commitments into measurable action and lasting impact for people, society and the planet. Creating a Virtuous Cycle of Sustainable Value Creation through Quality Growth
In the fiscal year ended March 2026, NTT DATA reached the milestone of approximately ¥5 trillion in revenue, comprising ¥2 trillion in Japan and ¥3 trillion overseas. Our efforts and challenges over many years are also beginning to bear fruit, as demonstrated by our ranking among the world's top five IT services brands. At the same time, our operating environment is changing significantly with the rapid advancement of generative AI and growing demand for data centers. We cannot reach the next stage simply by continuing to grow along the same trajectory. That is why I have placed Quality Growth—growth accompanied by quality—at the center of management and set a target of increasing EBITDA 1.5-fold, from ¥800 billion in 2025 to ¥1.2 trillion in 2030.Quality Growth: Becoming the World’s Most Trusted Transformation Partner
In September 2025, NTT DATA reached a major strategic turning point when it became a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT and was delisted. I believe this has laid the foundation for swift decision-making and agile investment, enabling us to further advance our growth strategy. The 2030 EBITDA target is an important management objective set with a view to increasing corporate value 1.5-fold. Achieving this target requires us to continue delivering greater value to clients, creating services that society needs, and providing a place where every employee can grow. Through these efforts, we will establish a virtuous cycle that generates sustained profit growth and enhances our capacity to invest in future growth. NTT DATA’s strength lies in its Last Mile capabilities: organically connecting data centers, AI, cloud, consulting, security, industry-specific expertise, and productized new services and solutions to carry client transformation through to implementation. In the AI era in particular, the ability to support infrastructure, data, applications, and business transformation as an integrated whole will be essential. NTT DATA operates one of the world’s top three data center businesses. By addressing clients’ data-sovereignty needs while maintaining security, we will provide integrated, safe, and reliable services from infrastructure through applications. At the same time, in response to the growing environmental burden associated with AI, we are working toward Net-Zero by 2040 through measures including the use of renewable energy and highly efficient advanced cooling technologies at data centers. Building on trusted client relationships and strong implementation capabilities, NTT DATA aims to become the world’s most trusted transformation partner.Sustainability at the Heart of Our Business
For me, sustainability is not a special initiative separate from our business. NTT DATA advances Planet positive, Prosperity positive, and People positive. Of these, Prosperity positive most clearly reflects what makes us distinctive. Every area of society—including finance, government, healthcare, manufacturing, and distribution—is supported by systems, while data centers and the use of data have become social infrastructure in their own right.
For this reason, advancing each system and service safely and reliably is directly linked to the sustainability of society. This is sustainability at the very heart of our work.Social Impact Embedded in Our Mission
This belief is also embedded in our common global Mission: “Accelerate client success and positively impact society through responsible innovation.” During discussions on the Mission, one initial proposal used the phrase “while positively impacting society.” However, “while” could make having a positive impact on society appear secondary to client success. I believe that accelerating client success and positively impacting society should carry equal weight, so I insisted on connecting them with “and.” We take pride in the fact that NTT DATA's business is deeply involved in bringing about social transformation.Responsible Innovation also expresses our determination to continually assess both the benefits and challenges of advanced technologies and implement new systems in society responsibly. AI, cloud services, and data centers create significant value for clients and society, while also giving rise to new challenges involving security, privacy, AI ethics, and environmental impact. For this very reason, NTT DATA's mission is to use technology responsibly and deliver sustainable value to clients and society.
Values and Culture as Drivers of Growth
For me, our Values begin with “Respect every voice.” I believe that listening to our diverse stakeholders—clients, employees, partners, investors, and society—is the starting point for everything we do. From there, the narrative moves through the Values “Think big. Be bold.” and “Deliver the outcome.” before culminating in “Win together.” We will put this story into practice as one global team.Above all, people are the driving force behind sustainable growth. We aspire to “Be the place where people grow.” We cannot provide excellent services to our clients unless we are a company where every employee can grow and find fulfillment in their work. NTT DATA has a deeply rooted commitment to take responsibility and see things through to the end. We will harness that strength to achieve Quality Growth and contribute to a more prosperous and harmonious society.

Embedding Sustainability, Driving Quality Growth
NTT DATA's Global Approach
As Head of Sustainability Innovation Headquarters at NTT DATA Group Corporation and Chief Sustainability Business Officer (CSBO) of NTT DATA, Inc., I am working to advance sustainability management. Geopolitical uncertainty, climate-related risks, the rapid evolution of AI, and changing stakeholder expectations are fundamentally reshaping how companies create value. In this environment, sustainability is no longer limited to regulatory compliance or corporate social responsibility; it is a critical management priority that supports resilience, innovation, and long-term competitiveness.NTT DATA views sustainability as a force for driving business transformation. Our role is to combine technology, AI, and cross-industry expertise to address complex social challenges through responsible innovation and create measurable value for clients and society. We are advancing our initiatives with the 3 Positives—Planet positive, Prosperity positive, and People positive—and 13 material issues serving as a common global framework.
Corporate Sustainability: Fostering a Responsible Corporate Culture That Underpins Trust
—Embedding Sustainability in Everyday Decision-MakingCorporate sustainability means embedding sustainability in our own corporate activities and strengthening a responsible corporate culture and business foundation. Transforming ourselves into a more sustainable and trusted company strengthens our ability to support client transformation and expand our positive impact on society.Generative AI in particular can dramatically improve productivity and enable innovation, while also creating complex challenges involving ethics, transparency, cybersecurity, privacy, misinformation, and growing energy demand. Success in the AI era will not be determined solely by how quickly companies can adopt technology. What matters is how responsibly they govern and use it.
Leadership Supporting Responsible Innovation
I believe responsible innovation begins with responsible leadership. We must embed ethical principles, transparent governance, and accountability throughout the development and use of technology. Just as quality is inseparable from business operations, sustainability should be embedded in every decision we make.Business and Sustainability: Creating New Value Through Responsible Innovation
—Turning Sustainability into a Growth OpportunitySustainability also represents a significant business opportunity for us. The convergence of AI, digital infrastructure, and industry transformation is creating unprecedented opportunities to improve productivity, strengthen resilience, and address social challenges. By integrating technology, cross-industry expertise, and global capabilities and connecting people, technology, and partners, NTT DATA will create measurable business value and a positive impact on society.AI for Sustainability and Sustainability for AI
AI has the power to accelerate business process optimization, strengthen supply chains, reduce environmental impact, and facilitate the transition to more sustainable business models. At the same time, AI is increasing energy demand. That is why we believe we must advance both “AI for Sustainability” and “Sustainability for AI.” We will maximize AI's potential while making the digital infrastructure that supports it safer, more efficient, and lower-carbon.From Client Zero to Value for Clients and Society
Our efforts begin with our own transformation. Through our Client Zero approach, in which we serve as the first proving ground, NTT DATA embeds technology and sustainability practices throughout its own business activities. By sharing insights gained from our own transformation with our clients, we will help them accelerate their sustainability initiatives with greater confidence.Sustainability goes beyond regulatory compliance. It is a driving force for innovation, resilience, competitive advantage, and long-term value creation. Together with colleagues around the world, we will embed the 3 Positives in everything we do and combine responsible innovation with execution capabilities grounded in trust to create lasting value for our clients, society, and the planet.
Our sustainability goals
We have identified 13 material topics to be addressed globally, organized under three pillars to form our sustainability strategy.
